St
Simons – one of the Golden Isles
Connected
to mainland Georgia by a couple of bridges accessed from Brunswick, St Simons
lies across the St Simons sound from the northern tip of Jekyll Island. It is
indeed a special place.
Although the beach was beautiful, the
lighthouse spectacular, the shopping plentiful and classy, the bike paths
shaded and immaculate, the homes gracious, and the golf courses numerous, the highlight of our stop on St Simons Island
was a visit to Crabdaddy’s – where we enjoyed one of the best meals since we
started this floating life. If we hadn’t crossed paths or wakes with Charlie
and EJ who founded this establishment back in 1988, we might not have known to
partake. Sadly they were back on their boat – which only a few days before our
visit they picked up from the Panama City Marina, nevertheless we enjoyed the
hospitality of their son, Josh, our bartender, Amy and ace man of all jobs, Scott.
The conversation and service were cordial and warm but the specials of the day were
the scrumptious stars - just one of many reasons to stop in St Simons on our
next trip through this area.
