Liscombe
Lodge – a resort that welcomes cruisers
One
can’t complain about a resort that makes space for boaters, allows them use of
all facilities, and charges only a minimal price. We were lucky to enjoy sunshine as we wound
our way up the Liscomb River to the lodge dock – it is not really accurate to
call this a marina – but the dock does provide water and 50 amp power –
although there is only room (just) for two boats our size. We arrived first but had to back our stern
off the dock so the sailboat that arrived later could get some lines on the
dock. Nevertheless we took full advantage of the hot tub and treated ourselves
to the planked salmon specialty for dinner.
(We also got laundry done and filled our water tanks – all in all a
great scenic stop.)
PS There is a story about why the lodge has an "e" and the river doesn't!
We left Liscombe cleaner and headed to Shelter Cove - fog descending as we arrived - no day without fog on the Nova Scotia Coast is the rule....
