Traveling
on Land – mostly
Leaving
our floating home in Port Washington, we flew to the West Coast for several
stops with family and friends:
High
School Buddy and College Roommate Shauna - made time to visit on a busy weekend. Such fun to see friends with HISTORY:
Aunt
Louise at Freedom Village:
Sister
Mary and Hubby Bill – honeymoon home in Hillsboro.
Sister
Kathy’s Eclipse Party – truly an awesome experience to feel the chill and other
worldly darkness descend. A party extravaganza - complete with wood fired pizza and a crowd of 90:
After party mahjong action |
Lynette
and Lavonne – a wonderful day with lunch on Vashon Island capped by a delicious
dinner.
Suzy
and Bill – gorgeous home in Bend OR – spectacular views even with the smoke
from fires.
Had a slight delay on our arrival |
Traveling to Eastern OR to see Mother
Nancy settled in Cove.
some of the 15 cats/kittens at Grandma Nancy's House |
Paul’s
Graduation Celebration – so proud of the big guy! Let him know if you need a
root canal. Even his professors recommend him to their friends.
Recognizing support of spouses |
Steve and Sisters Nancy and Kathy |
Paul
and Amanda our wonderful kids – toured us around Seattle between packing/moving
chores.
Farewell Party hosted by Justin and Jenny - living up to Florida Image |
Ferry ride for ICE CREAM |
famous or infamous GUM wall |
Pike's Place Market |
Lots of good food - besides Ice Cream |
Sentimental visit to Dick's |
And REI |
Even took Steve on a hike |
We have to mention the serious recycling in Seattle - pictures seem to help - we think:
On
returning to New York we took a tennis break to visit the US Open Tennis
Championships. Our lucky tickets gave us
a chance to see Roger Federer in the impressive Arthur Ashe Stadium. We also had time to wander the grounds and
catch a glimpse of the action on more intimate courts … not to mention sample
some of the food and beverages on offer. Although watching live spared us from
the TV commentators, the constant chatter – mostly not about tennis – of those
seated around us was a constant distraction. Looking forward to a Wimbledon
trip where tennis is a scared (and quiet) experience.
